The
farm of La Torre extends for 24 hectares all in the Common one
of Bagni di Lucca.
We produce principally:
The
bee-keeping:
the La Torre farm has been keeping bees since 2003 with the production
of single flower honey (mainly Acacia, Chestnut and Lime but also
broom and honey-dew), mixed flower honey.
The beekeeping is taken care of directly by Paolo, who after courses
of specialisation and updating has been performing this activity
with great passion and professionalism.
The honey we produce is exclusively natural, centrifuged (the
safest and most modern method to extract the honey) and filtered.
Our farm has the "Toscana Miele" seal of approval as
a guarantee of the quality of the brand. "Toscana Miele"
was born in 1991 and is the largest association of honey producers
in Tuscany and it certifies that the honey is picked exclusively
from Tuscan crops by beekeepers of proven experience, members
of the Producers Association. The bees we keep belong only to
the honey producing Italian species.
The olive grove:
The La Torre has given back to agriculture 32,000 mq. of land
that in the last few decades of abandonment they had been occupied
from many infesting plants. Along job for the cleaning of lands,
until the second world war they were occupied from plants of grape
for the wine production, is materialized in a new olive grove
with beyond 500 plants, the whose species (frantoiano and leccino)
will render between some year the oil for which the lucchesia
is famous all over the world.
The small plants, still too much young for being able to render
one production, they come pruned and attended to every year, so
as to to be able to soon taste our oil, thanks also to the favorable
solar exposure.
The chestnut tree forest:
the land of the La Torre farm is constituted from nearly 10 hectares
of chestnut tree forest, in part of high stalk and part from fruit.
Our objective is that one to transform it all by means of the
methodical and progressive substitution of the wild plants with
best the species local than plants from fruit which "marroni"
and "carpinesi",
typical of the Garfagnana. the job is begun on the surface of
approximately 5 hectares in
the forest that the farm holidays encircles, it is executed
by means of the pruning of the existing plants, to the graft on
the wild plants in order then after elimination the old plant
to advantage
of
the new fruit plant. To finished operation, the production
of chestnuts, that for their wealth of sugar, fat people, proteins,
